Lotte Asveld

Lotte Asveld has been a senior researcher with the Rathenau Institute's Technology Assessment division since December 2007. Her main area of interest is new developments in medical technology.
Academic background and career
Lotte Asveld gained her doctorate from Delft University of Technology, where she studied philosophy, in 2008. Her dissertation examined the risks of technology and respect for autonomy, based on a number of case studies involving biotechnology, mobile telephony and vaccination. She had previously read Cultural and Scientific Studies at Maastricht University under Prof. Wiebe Bijker. Her Master's thesis was about biotechnology as a development aid. Lotte Asveld also has broad experience as a freelance journalist and columnist for the development cooperation journal Internationale Samenwerking (IS), the in-house publications of Friends of the Earth Netherlands, and Delta, the weekly journal of Delft University of Technology, among many others.
