Pieter Heringa joined the Science System Assessment division in January 2010 as a junior researcher working on his doctoral research project. His key area of interest is the knowledge system within the water sector, both at national and European level. Using various techniques such as network analysis, he will attempt to identify the actors within the sector and their interrelationships.
Academic background and career
Pieter read Development Studies at Wageningen University, specializing in development economics. His thesis presented an analysis of the economic importance of multifunctional agriculture to the Dutch regions. As an undergraduate, he acted as student-assistant on several occasions, in which capacity he co-authored a book on institutional economy.
