Wouter Boon studies how public-private collaboration leads to innovation and to what extent this collaboration takes demands from science, policy and businesses into account. He works with the Rathenau Institute since March 2011.

Academic background and career
Wouter studied Science and Innovation at Utrecht University. In 2008 he defended his PhD-thesis at the same university titled ‘Demanding Dynamics - Demand articulation of intermediary organisations in emerging pharmaceutical innovations’. After that he worked at VU University Amsterdam (Athena Institute), Dialogic (research consultany firm) and Utrecht University (Innovation studies group). The thesis and his subsequent work dealt with the role of users in innovation processes. Domains that he have focussed on ranged from pharmaceutical products and healthcare innovations to transport infrastructure.
