They may appear incompatible, but nature and technology often go hand in hand. Technology is used to influence nature: to ensure continuity of food supplies, for example. But it is also used to promote nature and to improve the lot of animals. For example, it will no longer be necessary to kill so many day-old male chicks if we can ensure that all or most of the fertilized embryos are female. Sustainable water management practice involving the use of technology can be extremely beneficial for nature and the environment. And there may well be benefits to be derived from cloning. But what are the drawbacks?
