A new set of bio-engineering capabilities and fields have developed. At the crossroads of technology and biology, they promise to control, design and rebuild the organic world.

The project ‘Making Perfect Life’ describes the scientific and technological state of the art in four emerging fields:  Engineering of the body, living artefacts, brain and intelligent artefacts. A book explores these technological developments and the way in which biology and technology mutually influence and shape each other. An international symposium for Members of the European Parliament and a broader audience is scheduled for November 2010 in Brussels. These activities discuss how bio-engineering is the new black in the 21st century world of science and technology.

On november 10th the conference Making Perfect Life. Bio-engineering in the 21st century was held in the European Parliament. A recording of this conference can be watched via the website of the European Parliament.
