In the past, we took care of ourselves as best we could. If we fell ill, we went to the doctor. This is rapidly changing as new technologies shape the way in which we view our own bodies and health. There is an ever growing range of ways in which we can monitor our health. If you're not entirely satisfied with your body, you can have it altered. Human tissue is increasingly being 're-used': there is even a commercial market for it. The Rathenau Institute actively studies such developments.
