How can we reduce CO2 emissions? What resources and technologies will enable us to do so successfully? What sacrifices are people willing to make in order to solve the climate problem?
On Saturday 26 September 2009, concerned citizens from 38 countries deliberated these questions at the WorldWideViews on Global Warming forum organized by the Danish Institute of Technology. Their findings were then communicated to the official delegates due to attend the UN Climate Change negotiations (COP15) in Copenhagen in December. The WorldWideViews on Global Warming forum demonstrated that the general public can also make a significant contribution to the climate debate.
The Rathenau Institute organized the Netherlands' delegation and assisted the Maldives in preparing its contribution. The full results of the forum and a documentary can be found at http://www.wwviews.org
The study Room for Climate Debate was published in april 2010. It maps the complex interaction between climate politics, science and the media.
