She is leading a project about strategic partnerships in science, technology and innovation between industry, universities and other parties.
Sue-Yen studied mechanical engineering at the University of Twente and sociology and technology dynamics at the University of Amsterdam. In 2015 she successfully defended her doctoral dissertation in history ‘Connecting Small Firms for Innovation’ at the Eindhoven University of Technology. For this research she investigated innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises in the Netherlands between 1900 and 1940 and the roles of knowledge circulation and intermediary organisations. Before Sue-Yen joined the Rathenau instituut, she was employed in the process industry in several technical, commercial and project roles.
