Dr. Iris Korthagen

Dr. Iris Korthagen has been working as a researcher at the Rathenau Instituut since February 2015.

Expertise

Iris is involved in research into the influence of digitization on democracy. In projects under her leadership, she highlights the opportunities and challenges of digital participation and the digitisation of news. In addition, she completed projects on science journalism and 'smart cities'.

 

Education and career

 

Iris studied cultural studies (BA), philosophy (BA) and public administration (MSc). She obtained her doctorate in early 2015 on research into the role of media in decision-making processes, at the public administration department of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Iris also worked at the Council for Social Development (RMO) on advices about journalism and about nudging.
