In her research, Patricia addresses the non-academic scholarly institutions, the future of the universities and knowledge for policy.
Training and career
Patricia studied Health Sciences in Maastricht. She finished her PhD in 1994 at the department of Science Dynamics at the University of Amsterdam. As freelance researcher she consequently conducted research on the history of the life sciences, as well as on issues related to science policy. In 2012 she published a biography of Johanna Westerdijk, the first female professor in the Netherlands. Between 2006 and 2013 Patricia was a fellow of the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and Humanities at Utrecht University.
