Mees deals with science and innovation policy, and its societal impact. Among other things, he is currently researching the impact of practice-based research and which societal developments will become relevant to science in the future.
Education and career
Mees studied Philosophy and Economics at University College Utrecht and then completed a master's degree in 'Philosophy and Public Policy' at the London School of Economics. There he wrote his thesis on the influence of modern digital technology on the way people exchange ideas and thoughts.
After his studies, Mees worked at a research and consultancy firm for social issues, where he did projects across the full range of the public sector. In addition, he participated in the National Think Tank where he researched problems within digital society and what possible solutions to them are.
