Florien Timmermans LLM, MA
Florien is a researcher within the Digitalisation theme, where she contributes to research into human-centred digital technology. In particular, she is involved in the research Interoperability: Should digital systems speak the same language more often?
Education and career
Florien studied European Law and Political Philosophy at Utrecht University. During her studies, she explored the ethical boundaries of digital markets, the Digital Single Market and competition law issues surrounding the market power and abuse of power by Big Tech companies. For her master's theses, Florien examined, on the one hand, the possibilities for regulating digital platforms as public services under European law and, on the other, the ethical dimensions of the Draghi report.
Alongside her studies, Florien gained experience in social law and consultancy. She was also part of the ERC programme The Business Corporation as a Political Actor at Utrecht University.
