Femke focuses on the Climate and Innovation theme and deals with, among other things, the knowledge ecosystem for long-term radioactive waste disposal.
Education and career
Femke studied Molecular Sciences at the University of Wageningen and Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society at the University of Twente. There she subsequently obtained her PhD with a dissertation on the social embedding of new medical genetic technology. She previously worked at the Rathenau Institute (2005-2011), at which time she conducted research on the societal impact of climate research programmes and methods and techniques for inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration. From 2011 to 2023, she worked as an independent researcher, trainer, consultant and facilitator within her own company Knowledge Creation, Research & Consultancy. The common thread in her portfolio of assignments was to make a connection between research, practice and policy.
