Expertise
Tijs researches safe-by-design. He investigates, for instance, how companies and/or research programmes make different choices with regard to risk prevention through the societal embedding of research. He also partakes in the European H2020 project on the precautionary principle.
Education and career
Tijs completed the Masters Politiek & Parlement, and Philosophy and Science at Radboud University Nijmegen. The subjects of his theses were the transformations in thinking about public health in Dutch politics, and the development of a biopolitical framework to examine the history of healthcare. He also worked a year as Project Manager Healthcare at the political think thank Bureau de Helling.
