Connect European research programmes with local problems

With Horizon Europe, its latest multi-annual programme for research and innovation, the EU aims to make the results of research more visible to a wide audience. But how? Based on our experience with science, innovation, and impact, we advise the EU to serve the long term sustainability transitions and not to focus on visible impact in the short term. To this end, research should be linked to national and regional problems.
