The decisions we make today about science, technology, and innovation shape the world of tomorrow. The Rathenau Instituut strengthens democratic decision-making in these areas. We identify ethical and societal issues and promote political and public debate.
Who designs, determines. That sums up the Dutch report 'Inclusief online – Naar een ontwerp van apps en omgevingen waar mensen vrij en veilig kunnen zijn' in three words.
In the report we present options for action to help build apps, platforms and other online environments where people feel free and safe.
To facilitate the discussion of Dutch research policy, the Rathenau Instituut gathers facts and figures on what the Netherlands spends on science and technology, for example. We also identify long-term trends. The scientific world is globalizing. We therefore involve international studies in our research and make international comparisons. We publish these figures in (concise) data publications and (more elaborate) factsheets, organized in six themes.
